Delivery & Frequently Asked Questions
Are Chesney's mantels made from natural materials?
All of our mantels are hand carved from real marble or real limestone. We do not use any lookalike or cast products of any description.
What is the lead time for delivery?
Chesney's aim to hold stock of all products at all times. Making allowance for rigorous quality control procedures and specialist packing, delivery times will vary according to destination. Stock shortages do occasionally occur when a product is more popular than expected and Chesney's will as always advise of the possibility of any delay before allowing the customer to commit to a purchase. Our mantels are packed in a strongly constructed timber crate. Your carrier will not take this crate off the truck for you. We always request that the trucking company use a lift gated truck for delivery but this is not always possible, so please have at least three men ready to unload the crate. In a few cases where the delivery address is very remote or in a residential area that will not allow access to a large truck, the customer may have to arrange secondary delivery from the nearest accessible point designated by the carriage company.
Is there a charge for delivery?
Yes. Please refer to the price lists for details of delivery and packing charges of all standard items. For confirmation that your address falls within these standard charges or for details of additional delivery costs that may be payable for other destinations, please contact our Sales staff. Prices for antique mantels do not include delivery. Please contact our Sales staff if you require a firm quotation for delivery of a particular item.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Chesney's products are warranted to be free from defect except for those variations in color, shade, veining and grain which occur naturally in any limestone or marble. In the case of antique mantels, subject to those repairs/restoration that have been necessary in the refurbishment of the mantel.
What happens if the goods have been damaged in the course of shipment?
The mantels will be delivered in a specially constructed timber crate. The lid of the crate can be opened by removing clearly marked screws. It should then be possible to check if any damage has occurred during transit. Any such damage must be notified to Chesney's within 7 days of delivery and a replacement will be supplied.
Who should install the mantel?
A local mason is the best choice to install your mantel.
Where can I view the products?
Chesney's have showrooms in the D&D Building in New York and ADAC in Atlanta which display examples from our range of reproduction marble and stone mantels. These are trade only buildings so a visit can be made with your Designer or Architect. Failing this please contact our showroom staff who will be pleased to arrange for you to visit the building in the company of an accredited Designer.
What are the payment terms?
A deposit of 50% will be charged to your credit card with your order and the balance will be charged when the goods are ready for despatch.
